Ryon Barker of Cunningham-Limp provided a detailed presentation on the proposed Linden Mill renovation at the Aug. 11 council meeting, reviewing project scope, budget proposals and scheduling.
Barker described site considerations including a mussel study through the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), foundation stabilization precautions and roofing options. Council and staff discussed grant funding across budget years, possible over-budget items and methods for making up cost differences. Barker noted a roughly $15,000 estimated difference for a metal roof alternative; he also explained contract considerations and said more detailed final-design items would be brought back to council at the next meeting.
City Manager Ellen Glass clarified Cunningham-Limp’s role and asked councilors whether they had additional questions prior to staff preparing materials for final consideration. Councilors requested to see itemized comparisons and to review the alternative roof costs before the next meeting; no final decision or contract award was made during the Aug. 11 session.
The presentation left open funding and final-design choices; council requested more detailed cost estimates and comparison materials to inform a future vote.
