Bennet council approves consent agenda, grants curb cut and Hunter's Ridge access waiver; one abstention noted

The Bennet City Council on March 9 approved its consent agenda, granted a curb-cut waiver and authorized a limited vehicular-access waiver for maintenance of a shared well in the Hunter's Ridge Addition.
The council voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included approval of the Feb. 9, 2026 minutes, claims for payment, the treasurer’s report, and RESOLUTION 2026-3.1 approving a block party for BEDA’s Firefly Festival. Dan Zieg moved to approve the consent agenda and Pete Simmons seconded; roll call votes were Buck, Schmidt, Simmons and Zieg in favor.
Council also approved a curb-cut waiver for Brandon Garvin permitting a cut not to exceed 12 feet with a paved approach. Jesse Schmidt seconded the motion; the roll call vote was unanimous in favor.
Separately, the council approved a waiver of relinquishment of direct vehicular access to Saltillo Road to permit maintenance access to the shared well located in the northeast corner of Lot 7, Hunter’s Ridge Addition (Final Plat dated Sept. 21, 2006; Lancaster County Instrument No. 2006-052912). The motion to approve was moved by Josh Buck and seconded by Pete Simmons. The roll call vote was YES — Simmons, Buck and Schmidt; ABSTAIN (with conflict) — Zieg. The motion carried.
Later in the meeting, the council voted unanimously to go into closed session at 7:52 p.m. to receive legal advice; the council returned to open session at 8:09 p.m. The final council action was a motion to adjourn at 8:10 p.m., carried unanimously.
