Linden adopts 2025–26 budget and holds water rates for one year

On May 12, 2025, the Linden City Council adopted the City of Linden’s fiscal year 2025–26 budget covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, and voted to keep the current water rate structure in place for one year.
City Manager Ellen Glass and City Treasurer Brooke Card reviewed the proposed budget included in the meeting packet and clarified that the draft does not propose a tax‑rate increase. Residents had asked about a proposed millage increase during the public hearing; Glass explained the public-notice process and confirmed the budget before council did not raise the tax rate.
Brodie Killian of PFM Financial Advisors LLC reviewed a prior rate analysis and laid out options and recommendations, noting the city will likely need to revisit water rates next year. After discussion and questions from council and the public about county water, Councilor Denise Miller moved to hold water rates for the 2025–26 fiscal year; Councilor Pam Howd seconded and the motion carried 7-0.
Council then approved Resolution No. 07‑25 to adopt the budget by unanimous roll-call vote. Councilors thanked staff for their work on the budget and encouraged residents to contact the City Manager with questions about specific line items.
