Bennet approves inlet and ditch repairs, Quincy Street ROW work remains pending property-owner outreach

The Bennet City Council approved two public-works projects and delayed formal approval of the Quincy Street right-of-way survey work pending outreach to affected property owners.
City Engineer Brian Schuele presented a proposal for installation of an area inlet at Van Buren & Garden; the council approved the Pavers proposal by roll-call vote (YES: Schmidt, Buck, Simmons, Zieg).
Schuele also proposed cleaning the ditch on the north side of Cottonwood at Cochrane Corner to improve drainage after a culvert installation. The council approved the project not to exceed $13,000 with the mayor's approval (motion carried; roll-call YES: Zieg, Simmons, Schmidt, Buck).
Separately, the Catlett Surveying fee of $2,500 for the Quincy Street right-of-way project had been placed on the consent agenda but was removed. Schuele explained that property owners need to be contacted before the city approves the right-of-way plan; no surveying fee was approved at the Nov. 10 meeting.
What happens next: staff and council indicated they will contact property owners and return the Quincy Street item to a future agenda. The approved inlet and ditch work will be scheduled per contractor availability and any required mayoral sign-off.
