Planning commission schedules hearing on Noxious Weed ordinance; council addresses zoning fines and park animal cleanup

The Planning Commission announced a public hearing at 6 p.m. on Aug. 18 to consider a Noxious Weed ordinance, the council recorded on Aug. 4. Alicia Glick, a member of the Planning Commission, asked whether recently installed lights could be dimmed.
Council Member Durham, serving as Zoning Administrator and Sewer Administrator, reported that enforcement letters with fines have been mailed to three individuals. The council also discussed complaints about animals running loose and leaving waste at parks and ballfields; members said signs will be posted at playground and ballfield areas and noted existing dog cleanup stations at the ballfield and Railroad Park. Wood chips from storm cleanup are available to residents.
President Phillips said he will contact Nicole Rice regarding her request to join the Parks & Recreation Committee; council members noted that the committee is comprised of members of the Village Council and Planning Commission. Durham reported that sewer operations are going well. The meeting adjourned after these reports.
