Council reviews zoning work, maintenance projects, DDA purchase and approves fireworks funding

The Lincoln Village Council on June 2 received status updates on several planning, maintenance and economic-development items.
Zoning and planning: Council members said the Planning Commission is continuing work to redo the village Zoning Ordinances. Surveys for the Recreation Plan are ongoing in partnership with the RRC. Zoning Administrator and council member Durham said he will send several violation letters the following day. President Phillips said The Nature Conservancy contacted her about available funds to assist with ordinance work; she will meet with a conservancy representative on June 16 to discuss details.
DDA purchase: Council minutes state the DDA has approved purchase of the former Our Place property pending award of State Land Bank grant dollars; the council did not record grant status or award conditions beyond that pending approval.
Maintenance and parks: Maintenance lead Michael Basner reported benches have been placed around town, docks installed at the beach and boat launch, and that the road into the park and its parking lot are being prepped for paving; C&C is working on several paving projects. Basner asked to purchase garbage-container lids and small hand tools from the EQR budget; he said money is available for those purchases.
Fireworks funding: The council voted, on a motion by Wambold supported by Durham, to contract with Harrisville and Barton City to provide funds to each municipality for Fourth of July fireworks. The motion carried; the minutes do not record a roll-call tally or the amounts to be provided.
Community acknowledgements: Council members thanked graduating seniors who provided community service: Avery Glore cleaned and raked Barlow Road Park and Jasmine Walker washed village fire trucks. Marsha presented eight new seasonal downtown banners purchased with DDA beautification funds; council indicated plans to expand banner placement along 2nd and Traverse Bay Streets.
