Fire department reports equipment deliveries, two academy graduates and grant pursuit for radios

Nate Walker, reporting for the Lincoln volunteer fire department, told the council June 2 that the department handled 16 medical calls and two fire calls in the last month and that a package of previously approved equipment has been delivered.
Walker listed delivered items including cutters, spreaders, saws, lights, drills, a windshield kit, batteries and chargers, rescue struts, auto cribbing and brackets. He said the list completes the package the council approved at its May meeting.
Walker also noted two recent Fire Academy graduates, Brody Potts and Michael Basner, and said the department currently lists 20 firefighters on its roster, 18 of whom are active. He reported certification levels in the minutes as eight MFR-certified and nine FD-certified personnel.
Walker told the council the department needs new radios and that he is preparing an application for grant funding to replace them. No grant source or timetable was specified in the meeting minutes.
The council acknowledged the report; no formal vote or appropriation for radios was recorded in these minutes.
