Grant Township Board approves rental agreement occupancy limit and signs county hazard-plan participation letter

The Grant Township Board approved several administrative items at its Dec. 1, 2025 meeting, including an update to the township rental agreement that sets occupancy at 50 and requires a use contract for all users.

Supervisor Stanley VanSingel opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the board first approved the consent agenda and the minutes from the Nov. 3 meeting after a motion from Max Mellon and a second from Laura Rodriguez. Clerk Gladys VeltKamp reported there were no after-audit bills for the month.

The board then considered a revised rental agreement. The update sets the building occupancy at 50 and requires every user, including nonprofit organizations, to complete a use contract and to be responsible for reset and cleanup following use. Edith Elsenheimer moved to approve the agreement; Laura Rodriguez seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Members also reviewed a packet on the Newaygo County Hazard Management Plan and approved a letter of agreement to participate. Gladys VeltKamp moved to join the county plan; Edith Elsenheimer seconded, the board voted in favor, and Supervisor VanSingel signed the letter to Newaygo County Emergency Services.
