Board approves Delta Center Gym bids, Wacousta facility work and multiple bond payments

The Grand Ledge Public Schools Board of Education approved a range of bond- and sinking-fund–related expenditures and construction contracts at its April 27 meeting.
The board approved a series of line-item bid awards for the Delta Center Gym project, with individual vendor amounts for trades, HVAC, electrical, sitework and other scopes. During the motion, board member Matt Oppenheim pointed out a miscalculated total and offered a friendly amendment to set the total Bid Award at $4,258,336.08; the amendment was accepted and the motion carried unanimously.
Other capital approvals included: a bid award to Engineered Protection Services for replacement of the fire alarm at the Original Wacousta building (base bid $87,976.44 plus $10,000 district contingency, total $97,976.44) funded from Sinking Fund dollars; furniture purchases for Wacousta addition ($86,353.27) and the Dave & Betty Morris Natural Science Building ($87,364.60) procured through the State Consortium; and authorization to pay Proposal 1, Series 3 bond invoices ($14,535.00) and Proposal 1, Series 4 bond invoices ($341,798.13). The board also authorized payment of Sinking Fund invoices totaling $11,469.00.
Board members said these items had been discussed in the Bond and Sinking Fund Committee and noted ongoing construction progress at multiple sites. Staff noted the Wacousta original parking-lot repairs will begin in June/July. The motions for all items were recorded as carried unanimously.
