The Hardin County Commissioners Court on June 23 reviewed bids for Hurricane Safe Room Phase C and accepted the sole bidder, NNT Construction, with a base bid of $1,743,000 and multiple alternates for flooring, an IVU control system across buildings, and acoustical wall panels. Purchasing agent Misty Sims read the bid tabulation and the contractor confirmed availability and a projected phased completion timeline.
Commissioners discussed funding sources and agreed to use ARPA interest and some general-fund balance to cover approximately half of the cost; the auditor reported ARPA interest available as of April 30, 2026 would cover a little over $1.1 million toward the project. Commissioners also discussed whether all alternates were necessary; some alternates (flooring and acoustical panels) were described as desirable but not strictly required for IVU installation.
The court approved moving forward with the project and the contractor stated, with all three phases, they expected completion around April–May of next year. Commissioners requested continued coordination on schedule and cost-saving opportunities with engineers and the contractor.
No final, fully reconciled fund balance number from FY2025 was presented at the meeting; commissioners said they would reconcile ARPA and fund-balance figures in subsequent work to finalize funding for all selected alternates.
