Northfield COA outlines director hiring timeline and seeks part-time support position

Chair Meg Livingstone walked members through the hiring process for a new director: applications are open through March 30 and the board has received six candidates so far. A subcommittee of board members will prescreen applications, invite candidates to 30-minute interviews typically held at 5 or 5:30 p.m., then select two or three finalists for a public final interview that requires four days' advance notice. The board will discuss finalists in a public meeting and the chosen candidate must then be approved by the Select Board. Meg said the board hopes the new director will start June 1 and emphasized the need to complete selection by early May to allow notice periods.
Meg also reported that several members met the finance committee on March 9 to advocate for a new part-time position to support Colleen Letourneau and Deb Ryder. The finance committee was described as "impressed" by the presentation; if the committee approves the position it will not require a separate vote at annual town meeting, though COA members may need to respond to townspeople if budget questions arise.
