The city has added vendor spaces to accommodate demand, staff said.
On the Manhattan Park splash pad, the director explained the foot‑activated sensor was intermittently failing. As a temporary measure covered under warranty, staff switched the splash pad to a scheduled run pattern (on for 20 minutes, off for 10 minutes each hour) to provide predictability for users and reduce continuous water use on very hot days; the director said monitored consumption has not increased and staff are working with the contractor on a repair under warranty.
The director also noted staff are reviewing mixed feedback from businesses about the recent art festival and are discussing adjustments to improve local business impacts in future years. The department continues to support regular summer concerts and community events.
