Glen Arbor board schedules budget hearings, approves ledger archival and other routine items

The board set March 17 for the public FY27 budget hearing and March 30 for a special meeting to adopt the FY27 budget, adopted Resolution #6 (FY26 budget amendments), approved archival of an 1889–1920 Justice of the Peace ledger to the Leelanau Historical Society, and allowed the Garden Club to sell five old planter barrels.
At its Feb. 17 meeting the Glen Arbor Township Board set key dates and acted on several administrative and stewardship items.
Clerk Pam Laureto said the board will hold a public budget hearing on March 17 at 7:00 p.m. and a special Township Board meeting on March 30 at 10:00 a.m. to handle end‑of‑FY26 requirements and adopt the FY27 budget. The board also adopted Resolution #6–2026 (Budget Amendments #1 FY26) after the Clerk highlighted two changes from the draft proposal.
The board approved a request from the Leelanau Historical Society to accept and archive a donated 1889–1920 Glen Arbor Justice of the Peace ledger so it can be preserved appropriately (motion by Don Lewis, support John DePuy; motion carried unanimously).
Unfinished business items reported included Planning Commission concurrence that four township ordinances covered by the zoning ordinance could be repealed (Clerk to prepare the needed documents for next month) and the Garden Club’s plan to purchase remaining planters; Tom Plasman offered to purchase five old planter barrels as a donation to cover costs, and the board approved allowing the Garden Club to sell those five barrels.
The Clerk noted the township’s website must meet ADA compliance by April 26, 2027; the current website designer said the project was beyond her capabilities and the Clerk will find someone with ADA website expertise. The Zoning Administrator’s contract expires at the end of March and the ZA will not request renewal; information on interested firms and individuals was distributed to board members ahead of next month’s discussion.
The meeting minutes also record routine approvals: General Fund bills ($16,584.29) and payroll ($20,391.04) for the reporting period, and Emergency Services bills ($68,086.80) and payroll ($111,617.82).
