Glen Arbor board repeals three ordinances, adopts GLFD budget amendments and accepts roof bid

Glen Arbor Township trustees voted March 17 to repeal three township ordinances, adopt budget adjustments for the Glen Lake Fire Department and approve a series of routine payments.
In a roll-call series of votes, the board approved Ordinance No. 1-2026 (repealing Ordinance 1-2018), Ordinance No. 2-2026 (repealing Ordinance 2-2018) and Ordinance No. 3-2026 (repealing the Township Lighting Ordinance). Each motion passed with yes votes from Don Lewis, Bob Hawley, John DePuy, Pam Laureto and Tom Laureto; no votes were recorded. The minutes for Ordinance No. 2-2026 duplicate the motion language used for Ordinance No. 1-2026 (they both read “to repeal Township Ordinance No. 1-2018” in the minutes); the board’s roll-call votes show unanimous approval but the minutes contain that clerical inconsistency.
The board adopted Resolution #7-2026, titled “FY 2025-2026 GLFD Budget Amendments #2,” by roll-call vote with all five members voting yes. According to the Emergency Services Advisory Commission, ESAC reviewed payroll and recommended the board approve the GLFD amendments before the vote.
The board also accepted a quote from Story Roofing to replace the township hall roof and authorized payment of General Fund bills totaling $26,609.85 and February payroll of $21,173.70. Emergency Services bills totaling $109,007.71 and February Emergency Services payroll of $102,657.12 were approved separately; both payments carried on voice motions that passed unanimously.
Clerk Pam Laureto said the board reviewed five phone-system quotes and assigned Treasurer Don Lewis and Clerk Laureto to meet with a vendor from Utel to gather detailed information and return a recommendation. A member of the public who identified themself as a Glen Arbor taxpayer and as a township clerk from downstate praised the board’s representation and suggested “you could enter the phone quotes into ChatGPT” to help compare options.
Trustees discussed the need to hire a new zoning administrator; Supervisor Tom Laureto will arrange one-hour interviews with four candidates, with local contractors invited to provide feedback. The township’s current zoning administrator will continue month-to-month until a replacement is selected.
The meeting concluded with a Planning Commission update indicating continued work on the Master Plan and finalized zoning-ordinance edits to be followed by a public hearing and County Planning Commission review. The meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
