Fire chief reports 51 December calls, equipment repairs and a DNR grant

Glen Arbor Township — Capt. Dykgraaf reported to the Glen Arbor Township Board on Jan. 20 that the department responded to 51 calls in December and provided a summary of equipment work, personnel anniversaries and new systems.
Dykgraaf noted personnel anniversaries for FF/EMT Aaron Brown (17 years) and FF/Paramedic Jeff Hester (6 years). Repairs included replacement of the exhaust system and valves on Tanker 321; installation of equipment and lights on Command 300 is complete. The Station 2 dishwasher was replaced and carpets at Station 1 were cleaned.
The department's new fire reporting system, NERIS, is now up and running, and the set-up for fire services billing with the department’s billing service has been completed. The department received a 50/50 DNR grant to purchase Indian SmokeChaser Pro 5-gallon nylon backpacks. A replacement cardiac monitor has been ordered with delivery expected in April.
These operational updates were provided as part of the Fire Chief Operations Report; no formal board action was required on these items at the meeting.
