Crestwood honors 'Soaring Comets' and state-finalist girls basketball team

At its April 17 meeting the Crestwood School Board celebrated student achievements. The superintendent recognized elementary 'Soaring Comets' for March, singling out sixth-graders Marin Shaluti and Ben Krider from Fairview Elementary and Landon Saddowski and Emma Rebella from Rice Elementary for academic achievement and community leadership.
The board also honored the Crestwood High School varsity girls basketball team for winning the PIAA District 2 championship and advancing to the PIAA state final four — the first girls team in school history to reach that stage. The superintendent named seniors Kendall Petroski and Katie Gallagher and the roster of players and managers and presented commemorative T-shirts and a plaque.
The superintendent encouraged families to attend upcoming events and noted PSSA testing would begin April 23. The board congratulated the students, coaches and staff for the historic season and academic leadership.
