City manager updates: restroom bid, city-hall work, brush pickup and water flushing

Rick Bert, identified in the meeting as the city manager and DDA director, gave a series of operational and capital-project updates. He said bids for the Heart of Cedar Springs permanent restroom facility are due Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m., and engineers expect visible construction activity for the new city-hall project around early July when snow fencing will be installed.
Bert announced that municipal brush pickup will begin Monday, May 5, and that the city will conduct a flushing event from May 5–16 related to a newly installed well. He said the water remains safe for consumption but residents may see occasional brown water during the flushing period; the city flushes lines twice a year and this installation changes flow so the event is somewhat larger than typical.
A resident asked about heavy trucks and a large tanker near the well; staff noted nearby house construction (corner of Ash and Anne), with basement walls poured and cement trucks present, and said they would follow up if the resident still had concerns. Bert closed with general reminders about parks, summer events, and seasonal maintenance.
