The Cedar Springs Planning Commission reviewed a proposed site and floor plan for a combined city hall and public works facility during its April 1 meeting.
Mr. Moore, the city planner, showed a proposed layout with a front entrance leading to a reception counter and utility billing area, offices along the east wall, an expanded council chamber on the west side, a larger conference room, and a back section dedicated to public works equipment and vehicle storage. He noted doors will be widened to fit the city's main plow and that mechanical and electrical systems are planned to run above the ceiling tiles.
Budget and schedule: Mr. Moore said a construction firm's RFQ listed a projected budget of $3.1 million; staff cited a $3.0 million budget figure in materials and said the final plan and floor plan would be confirmed in coming days. "We put right in the details 3 million is our budget," he said, adding that engineers are verifying equipment fit and mechanical room locations.
Next steps: Staff asked the commission for feedback and indicated the final site plan and floor plan would be confirmed shortly and then brought to city council for further action. The commission expressed general approval of the design and visibility of the front entrance.
