Board approves consent items, CTE trip and curriculum purchase; moves to closed session

Out-of-state CTE field trip: Christina Carpenter moved to approve an invite-only overnight out-of-state trip for CTE Auto students to represent the district at a statewide event in the Lansing area. The board recorded roll-call "yes" votes (Trustee Tucker, Carpenter and others) and carried the motion.
Kthrough5 reading materials: After a staff presentation and multi-month vendor review, the board approved purchase of Kthrough5 reading materials using approximately $239,000 in state grant funds; the district said the grant covers the purchase and associated professional development.
Closed session: The board voted to adjourn into closed session under the Open Meetings Act (cited in the meeting as "15.2 68 Section 8") to discuss the superintendents evaluation.
Actions recorded at the meeting will be reflected in the board minutes and the official purchase order for the reading curriculum.
