Dearborn Heights board approves staff appointments, field trip, HVAC work and other routine items

At its Feb. 5, 2025 meeting, the Dearborn Heights School District #7 Board of Education approved a slate of superintendent recommendations covering personnel, district organization and facility work.
The board approved certified staff appointments (including Karen Sherer as a reading interventionist for Bedford, effective Feb. 3, 2025) and noncertified staff appointments. Motions to accept these personnel items were moved and carried on roll call with Trustee Wall, Trustee Anderson, Trustee Dyro and Trustee Belowski voting yes.
The board also approved an updated organizational chart, which trustees said better reflects current district operations. Trustee Kleinan (superintendent) and other trustees noted the chart had been visually cleaned up compared with last year.
The board approved a field trip to the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History for 20–30 students toward the end of February and authorized a $1,000 donation from the general fund to support a more accessible experience.
For facilities, the board voted to approve K and S Ventures Incorporated’s quote for replacement of an HVAC unit at Annapolis High School after board members discussed longstanding classroom HVAC issues and the age of the existing unit. The contract motion carried on roll call. The transcript recording of the quoted cost contains unclear characters and the exact dollar figure is not legible in the minutes packet; the district packet identifies the contractor and that funds will come from the general fund.
