The Dearborn Heights School District #7 Board of Education elected its 2025 officers and approved a slate of routine administrative and financial resolutions at its organizational meeting.
Trustee Belowski was elected board president after roll-call motions and votes; Trustee Sterlini was chosen as vice president, Trustee Winless as secretary and Trustee Wall as treasurer. The board also appointed temporary administrative signatories and confirmed a quorum before proceeding to business.
The board approved a resolution designating JP Morgan Chase and the Michigan School District Liquid Asset Fund Plus (MILAF) as depositories through January 2026 and authorized account signatories and procedures that require two authorized signatures for most accounts. The trustees also reaffirmed authorization for the business manager and superintendent to invest surplus funds consistent with board policy and designated the superintendent and/or business manager as electronic transfer officer under board policy 6144.
On legal and procurement matters, the board retained Collins and Blaha PC, Thrun Law Firm, and Miller Canfield as district attorneys and appointed Hman Architects and II Architectural and Engineering Services as district architectural firms for district matters. The Media News Group was designated as the district’s official newspaper of record. The board approved a committee structure—building and site, board policy, finance, student reinstatement and a citizens/ad hoc advisory committee—and adopted a 2025 meeting schedule of regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month, with trustees discussing but ultimately declining to change the start time to 6:30 p.m. during the meeting.
All routine administrative motions brought to a roll‑call vote carried. The board also approved the 2025 superintendent evaluation timeline and selected the Collins and Blaha PC superintendent evaluation tool for 2025.
A trustee said they looked forward to working with colleagues in 2025 before the board adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
