Clarkston council adopts revised fire services agreement with Independence Township in 4-2 vote

The City of the Village of Clarkston City Council voted 4-2 on July 28 to accept revisions to the intergovernmental agreement for fire services with Independence Township and authorized Mayor Sue Wylie or City Manager Jonathan Smith to sign the updated agreement.

Councilmember Jones offered the resolution to accept the revisions, with Councilmember Casey recorded as supporting the motion. The roll call recorded Jones, Ted Quisenberry, Casey and Mayor Wylie voting in favor; Mayor Pro Tem Rodgers and Councilmember Forte voted against it, and the resolution was recorded as carried.

The minutes describe the changes as pertaining to "Overpayment" in the new Fire Services agreement; the resolution text authorizes the City to accept those revisions and to execute the agreement. George Venettis presented the 2025 National Affiliate Accreditation Certificate from Main Street America and Main Street Oakland County to City Manager Smith and members of Main Street Clarkston earlier in the meeting.
