Oconee County Council on Aug. 20 approved staff’s recommendation to upgrade the Detention Center’s fingerprint-management system. The purchase from DataWorks Plus, LLC was approved for $103,570, with a 10% contingency of $10,357.00 (total project amount $113,927.00), and the County Administrator was authorized to execute project documents and sign change orders within the contingency amount.
Staff told council the current system is designed for 50,000 fingerprint records but is storing about 78,000 and is at end of life; failure could cause significant disruption to daily booking operations. DataWorks Plus recommended a server storage solution that converts current records and provides effectively unlimited storage into the future. Council voted 4–0 to approve the upgrade and contingency.
The agenda contained a scrivener's error earlier in the meeting; County Administrator Amanda Brock noted the contingency amount printed on the agenda did not reflect the proper figure. The council vote adopted the staff-recommended contingency and authorization language.
