Oconee County approves payment for voting-equipment batteries shipped without prior procurement authorization

Oconee County Council voted 4–0 to approve payment for voting-equipment batteries that were delivered without prior procurement authorization.
Staff recommended approval of invoice #33411 to Print Elect of New Bern, N.C., for $56,901.54 and payment of sales/use tax in the amount of $3,414.09 directly to the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Staff said Election Systems & Software, Inc. (ES&S) equipment requires replacement of certified component parts only by certified vendors and that ES&S and its partner Print Elect provide the required components and certified installation under South Carolina State Contract No. 4400021704. Procurement subsequently reviewed the invoice and confirmed the purchase aligns with the state contract; Purchase Order No. 56157 was issued after delivery.
Councilman Julian Davis III moved to approve payment of the invoice and sales tax; Councilman John Elliott seconded. The motion passed 4–0.
