Pursuant to Section 8(1)(b) of the Open Meetings Act (Act 267 of 1976), and at the request of the student's parents, Trustee Karen Cedar moved that the Board go into closed session to conduct a hearing on the discipline of a student. The motion was seconded by Trustee Jamie Haslem and carried by a 7-0 vote. The Board returned to open session at 7:28 p.m.
Following the closed hearing, the Board amended the agenda to add action item 9.c (2025-01 Student Discipline) — a motion to amend the agenda was made by Trustee Karen Cedar and seconded by Trustee Ronald Miller and carried 7-0 — and then accepted the administration’s recommendation for student 2025-01. The acceptance motion was made by Trustee Lindsay Chopp, seconded by Trustee Jamie Haslem, and recorded as yea 7, nay 0. The Board did not release student-identifying or case-specific information in open session.
