East China board approves $5.38 million in elementary renovation contracts under Bond 2020

The East China School District Board of Education voted unanimously Nov. 17 to award a series of construction contracts for renovations at Palms, Belle River and Pine River elementary schools under its Bond 2020 program.

Vice President Karen Cedar moved the approval of the contractor proposals and Jamie Haslem seconded; the motion carried 5–0 with two members absent. The motion listed specific proposal awards by trade, including electrical work, HVAC, plumbing, glazing, flooring, casework and structural steel. The listed awards total $5,377,692.

Board members did not request postponement and approved the full package during the meeting. Lisa Bondy of AUCH General Construction later provided a separate Bond 2020 status update, including a summer overview of work at the three elementary sites and an update on Marine City baseball fields.
