Galesburg council adopts truck route, approves $27,911 park fence contract and raises ZBA fees

At its Sept. 8 meeting the Galesburg City Council adopted a range of routine and policy measures, passing a truck-route resolution, awarding a park-repair contract, appointing a Downtown Development Authority member and increasing Zoning Board of Appeals fees.
The council adopted Resolution 20250908 establishing a city truck route, adding E. Michigan to the map; the roll-call vote was unanimous among members present. The council also awarded a contract to Justice Fence for repairs at Ike Payne Park for $27,911 with a cap of a 5% increase; Superintendent Ranes said insurance proceeds cover the fence expenses but not tree removal.
Kim Enders was appointed to the Downtown Development Authority after addressing the council about long-term community involvement. The DDA requested to place a 12×20 shed on the park behind city hall; the council approved the placement (Mayor Marble abstained) and later voted to waive permit fees for the project (Mayor Marble abstained on the fee waiver).
Councilmembers discussed and approved raising Zoning Board of Appeals fees from the current (low) rate to $250. Councilmembers said the increase better reflects administrative costs; the roll-call vote to set the fee at $250 carried unanimously.
Mayor Marble said earlier vote tabling on the truck route had been to allow adding E. Michigan to the proposed route; the updated map was adopted at this meeting. The council handled these items by a mix of roll-call and voice votes and adjourned at 8:14 p.m.
