Ohio County Fiscal Court on June 23 adopted the 2026–27 fiscal year budget at a second reading and approved a budget amendment and a wage compensation schedule reflecting cost-of-living adjustments for county employees.
The court conducted a roll-call vote on the second reading of the budget and recorded affirmative votes before moving to a related amendment that closes out the current fiscal year. Judge David Johnston said the budget package was ready for signature and administrative follow-up. "And you'll write today, then?" a commissioner asked; staff confirmed the paperwork would be returned to the clerk for processing.
Officials said the compensation schedule reflects CPI adjustments negotiated into the new fiscal plan; Jason Bullock moved to accept the wage schedule and Michael McKinney seconded. The motion passed by voice vote and the schedule will take effect with the new fiscal year.
The court also handled routine fiscal business in the same meeting, approving minutes, bills, and the Treasurer's May 2026 financial statements by voice vote and renewing the Treasurer's bond for the coming fiscal year.
The court indicated that any needed technical amendments to the adopted budget can be handled administratively or brought back for formal amendment if substantive changes are proposed.
The court adjourned with the budget and wage schedule in place; the next meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2026.
