The Three Oaks Village Council voted unanimously to support a letter endorsing the sale of the Schwark Drain property to a developer for housing.
The motion to support the letter was moved by Councilmember Niemzyk and supported by Councilmember Springer; the council recorded no opposing votes. During discussion Councilmember Kramer asked whether assessments tied to the property have been passed on to the buyer; Manager Faulkner said he would investigate and follow up with the council.
The action does not finalize a property transfer or change easement or setback determinations; Faulkner reported earlier that the Village has received an appraisal for a nearby parking-lot property and is working with Building Official Ed Carpenter and Attorney Hilmer to clarify setbacks and easements before any private sale agreements are drafted. If a sale proceeds to closing, Faulkner said a title company would be used.
The council’s vote was a statement of support for a developer-led housing sale and not a final land transaction. Manager Faulkner will report back to council with any updates on assessments and title-related issues at a later meeting.
