Council agrees to pursue grants with Changemaker Studio for Chamberlain Path amid design and maintenance concerns

The Three Oaks Village Council voted Aug. 13 to advance work with Changemaker Studio to pursue grant opportunities for the site known as Chamberlain Path. The motion, moved by Hinman and supported by Springer, passed unanimously.
Council member Jones said she supports the mural concept but warned that she would "feel uncomfortable walking through a yoga class to enter the Village Office or neighboring businesses," raising both design and ongoing maintenance concerns. Council member Niemzyk supported the project in principle but said design adjustments are needed; Council member Thomas warned of added maintenance demands on village staff.
Representatives from Changemaker Studio, introduced in public comment by Tara Heiser and Julie Strating, and Matt Biolette of Fleis & Vandenbrink offered to answer questions and support the DDA-funded effort. Council members noted that no design approvals were being made at this meeting and that the DDA would be responsible for funding any final work.
Council asked that potential parking impacts and maintenance obligations be considered as part of future design and grant applications.
