Arvon Township School Board votes to remain fully virtual through mid-January

The Arvon Township School Board voted on Nov. 10 to keep the district in remote instruction through the end of the semester in mid-January.
Board member Nancy Soli moved and Mary DeLine seconded a motion to follow the recommendation in a letter from George Stockero dated Oct. 26 that the district remain virtual; DeLine noted a reservation. The motion passed with all voting members recorded as in favor: Sue Bollech, Linda Griffith, Nancy Soli, Mary DeLine and Heather Stiebe, with newly elected Natalie Wahmhoff noted as present.
According to the board discussion, Stockero recommended continuing the current virtual method through the semester and conducting a new family survey after the Christmas break. Board members said they will revisit the learning model at future meetings and make adjustments as conditions change.
The decision leaves in place the district's remote instruction plan for students through mid-January and directs staff to follow up with a post-holiday survey; no additional operational directives or timetable for a return to in-person classes were set at the meeting.
The board's next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 8, 2020, when the learning plan may be readdressed.
