Board honors Rosemary Smith and Lisa Renady for decades of service

The California State Board of Equalization adopted resolutions on June 24 honoring two long‑serving staff members for their decades of public service.

Kathy Taylor read a resolution honoring Rosemary Rose Smith, an Analyst II in the Board Proceedings Division who will retire after more than 36 years. Smith, appearing remotely, thanked mentors and colleagues and recounted her work on board agendas and the disability advisory committee. Executive Director Evette Sters and board members praised Smith’s dedication; Vice Chair Gaines noted Smith’s role in preparing hundreds of agendas and minutes and her advocacy on disability issues.

The board also adopted a resolution honoring Lisa M. Renady, chief deputy director, for nearly four decades in public service. Renady described career highlights including rebuilding staffing, managing large audit and hiring efforts, and overseeing operational improvements; members lauded her leadership through reorganization and for achieving a recent perfect personnel audit score. The board recessed for photos and a brief break following the presentations.

Both resolutions were presented and adopted on the consent calendar; the board’s formal actions on the consent agenda were approved unanimously earlier in the meeting.
