The Orleans Planning and Zoning Commission on June 17 approved the final draft of the Orleans 2026 Comprehensive Land Use Plan and scheduled a public hearing on the plan for July 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting began at 6:32 p.m. and adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
Chair Cheri Tungland called the meeting to order and noted that Commissioners Becker, Radcliffe and Rosenberg were present and that Commissioner Rock participated by phone. Staff members Darren Bumgarner, Kenzi Carrigan and P. Kay Cmelik (secretary for the commission) were also present.
Commissioner Becker moved to approve the agenda as presented; Commissioner Rosenberg seconded and the motion carried with a unanimous voice vote recorded as "AYES: All." Staff explained the purpose of the meeting as public participation and input toward developing the Orleans 2026 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Commissioners and attendees answered vision questions from staff about where growth should occur, what types of development are preferred, community needs, financial constraints and how to preserve the integrity of Orleans.
Commissioner Radcliffe moved to approve the final draft of the comprehensive plan; Commissioner Becker seconded and the motion passed, again recorded as "AYES: All." Commissioner Rock then moved to set a public hearing on the final plan for July 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m.; Commissioner Radcliffe seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The commission took no further formal actions and Chair Tungland declared the meeting adjourned at 7:13 p.m. The public hearing on the Orleans 2026 Comprehensive Land Use Plan is scheduled for July 15 at 5:30 p.m.
