The School Board of the Oregon School District approved a series of formal actions at its July 22 meeting, most by unanimous roll call votes.
Consent Calendar: The Board approved the Consent Calendar (with items #1 and #2 removed) including staff resignations, new staffing assignments, a district FFA field trip (OHS FFA Officer Leadership Training to Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Aug. 19-22), and donations including an $8,000 scoreboard sponsorship from One Community Bank and $6,516.62 from Friends of the Oregon School District for AVID tutors and a mentor program. The consent motion passed 7-0.
Title IX policies: Dr. Mary Lokuta moved to retire Policy 166 and fold its contents into Policy 165; Ms. Jina Jonen presented the recommendation and the Board approved the consolidation by a 7-0 vote following a 3-0 Policy Committee recommendation.
Employee Handbook: The Board approved the 2024-2025 Employee Handbook, which includes a one-year pilot to move one day from sick leave to personal leave for regular school-year staff who do not have vacation hours, and authorized moving forward with hiring an HR staff member; the motion passed 7-0.
Co-curricular Code: Changes to the OSD Co-curricular Code, presented by Brittany Spencer Grant, were approved 7-0.
Superintendent contract: After a closed session to consider a performance evaluation pursuant to Wisconsin Statutes a719.85(1)(c), the Board returned to open session and approved the superintendent's employment contract by a 7-0 vote.
