Committee reviews superintendent midyear evaluation, schedules SuperEval training

The Maynard School Committee reviewed the superintendent's midyear materials and discussed the new SuperEval platform the district is using to collect and tag evidence against evaluation standards and goals.
Brian said SuperEval allows staff to link supporting documents to specific standards and goals and to streamline evidence collection. Committee members reported that clicking supporting evidence currently downloads PDFs and requested training on how to view materials in the system more conveniently. Several members asked for a vendor-led workshop so the committee could learn the system before the end-of-year evaluation cycle.
"Once we are able to really use the SuperEval system exclusively, it should make what you have to do a little simpler," Brian said, describing the platform's potential to reduce end-of-year workload by clarifying which pieces of evidence align with which standards and goals.
The committee discussed scheduling the first- and final-read items for the evaluation and agreed to consider moving one late-June meeting earlier so the superintendent can participate before planned leave. The chair said she would schedule a SuperEval workshop for committee members before May so members can ask procedural questions and avoid last-minute compilation problems.
No vote was required; committee members asked staff to set a training date with the vendor and provide reports indicating which evidence items have been logged to standards.
