The East Windsor Board of Education voted unanimously to send its FY26 budget to the town Board of Finance, and separately approved a student overnight trip to Madrid, Spain.
Board members discussed the budget in public session and were informed that adjustments—including an IT credit of $12,000 and insurance and salary updates—allow the district to keep the proposed high-school math tutor without increasing the previously discussed local contribution. A motion to forward the proposed FY26 Board of Education budget (the dollar figure read on the record as approximately $29.79 million) was made and the board voted "all in favor." A board member emphasized a desire to have a tutoring plan in place by Sept. 1 so the intervention can be scheduled and sustained.
On the field trip, staff described a partnership with another district/group to meet minimum participation requirements and outlined expected fundraising and parent communication supports. The board approved the overnight Madrid trip by voice vote, with members noting fundraising will offset costs and that the trip meets board travel-account requirements.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved minutes from its Feb. 12 regular meeting and Feb. 26 special meeting by unanimous voice vote. The board concluded regular business and indicated it would move into an executive session later in the meeting.
