Survey of Toms River’s Class of 2024: about 75% of graduates plan college or workforce paths

District staff presented the 2024 graduate survey results, which the presenter said track graduate destinations back to 2017 and are broken down by school. The presenter told the committee the Class of 2024 included 1,161 graduates and that 875 reported plans for postsecondary experiences.
According to the presenter, 447 graduates planned to attend four‑year colleges, 341 planned two‑year colleges, 87 planned vocational or technical programs and 38 enlisted in the military — the presenter described the military enlistment as a notable increase compared with prior years. Another 188 graduates planned to enter the workforce directly and 59 indicated they were undecided at the time of the survey.
The presenter said these measures reflect outreach to graduates and follow a district process for recording post‑graduation destinations; staff said they will continue to follow up on outcomes and encourage alumni to engage with the district.
Board members expressed support for reviewing longitudinal trends and using the data to inform curriculum and counseling supports.
