Martiny Township approves payments, hall maintenance, Board of Review appointment and permits university drone mapping

At its Nov. 18, 2025 meeting the Martiny Township board approved payment of township bills totaling $11,941.42, accepted the treasurer's report, contracted carpet cleaning, appropriated $200 to repair the flag light, appointed Karen Bakewell to the Board of Review and allowed a Ferris State University survey class to conduct drone mapping on township property.
Martiny Township supervisors approved a series of routine financial and administrative actions at their Nov. 18, 2025 regular meeting, including payment of township bills and several small facility maintenance expenditures.
The board accepted the treasurer's report showing expenditures of $36,209.47, revenues of $3,731.05, a General Fund balance of $45,712.41 and Municipal Savings of $87,415.72. Cindy Lattimore moved to accept the report and Connie Grant seconded; the verbal vote was recorded as 5 yes, 0 no and the motion carried.
The board adopted a roll-call resolution to pay township bills, check numbers 14511–14533, totaling $11,941.42. The resolution was moved by Cindy Lattimore and seconded by Lois Schmidt; roll-call vote was 5 yes, 0 no.
Other actions included a resolution to contract with Service Master to clean the carpet in the Township Hall at a cost of $537.90 (moved by Cindy Lattimore, seconded by Lois Schmidt; roll-call vote 5–0) and a $200 appropriation to repair the light fixture that illuminates the American flag in front of the hall (moved by Cindy Lattimore, seconded by Dale Dosenberry; roll-call vote 5–0).
The board also approved a resolution appointing Karen Bakewell to the Board of Review to replace Mike Munsell for the remainder of his term. Supervisor Barbara Hampel moved the appointment and Cindy Lattimore seconded; roll-call vote 5 yes, 0 no.
Separately, the board voted to allow a Ferris State University survey class to conduct drone mapping and related class activities over township property near the hall. The motion was moved by Connie Grant and seconded by Dale Dosenberry; the verbal vote was 5 yes, 0 no.
Under old business the board noted the status of Henry v. Mecosta County Building and Zoning: the Henrys had until Nov. 17, 2025 to file an appeal of the Oct. 24, 2025 judge’s decision, and the township reported it had no knowledge of any appeal being filed.
The meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m. after a motion by Cindy Lattimore, seconded by Dale Dosenberry; the verbal vote was 5 yes, 0 no.
