New Marlborough — At its March 24 meeting the Planning Board approved minutes from its March 10 session and voted to approve a special permit application for 345 New Marlborough Southfield Road after confirming members had reviewed the application and voiced no questions or concerns.
Board members continued a previous conversation about the Community Preservation Act (CPA) following an earlier presentation by Rene Wood. Members expressed concern about the logistics and the potential time delay for return on investment and how residents might view a tax increase; the board agreed to circulate additional documents provided by Wood and to consider outreach to nearby Becket, which recently adopted a CPA.
The board also confirmed it would accept final warrants and modify the deadline for submission. Chair Bob Hartt agreed to create titles and summaries for each warrant and the board agreed to minor revisions supplied by Town Counsel, including aligning text with tables for piggeries, fur farming and greenhouses and making explicit that cannabis is not included under existing agricultural laws. Hartt will confirm cannabis-related language with Town Counsel and submit the agreed titles and summaries to the Town Administrator.
