Councilors said they would review which portions of the boat-launch concept would be paid from a MACF special fund and which would come from FEMA Public Assistance (PA) money earmarked for the boat launch, and that staff would follow up on the project timeline. The council voted to keep the number of trees in Village Park at 20 for 2026 and to revisit the number next year.
Councilors reported progress opening walking paths on newly acquired Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) property along the Tittabawassee River and asked staff to continue coordinating access and routing. During public comment, resident Melanie Rattray, a new property owner in the village, asked clarifying questions about the draft Parks and Recreation Plan, including whether it would allow bike trolleys, a farmers' market or a gluten-free restaurant; she said she plans to build a wedding venue and sought clarification on permitted uses.
The council did not adopt any land-use changes at the meeting; members requested additional information where needed and directed staff to follow up on funding allocations and timeline details for the boat-launch project.
