The Village of Sanford on Oct. 13 voted to cease pursuit of the parcel at 362 W. Center Street after the property owners submitted a counteroffer.
Council member Carl Hamann moved to no longer pursue the purchase; Marcus Thrush seconded. The recorded vote listed Yeas from Leah Ziems, Marcus Thrush and Carl Hamann and a Nea from Village President Dolores Porte. The clerk recorded the motion as carried.
The village had previously made an offer on the corner parcel (Center and Saginaw); no further terms or dollar amounts were recorded in the meeting minutes. The item is scheduled to return to the agenda in November only insofar as the Sanford Historical Society and village staff continue exploring alternative funding or options, according to the clerk’s report.
No formal purchase agreement was approved and no funding was committed by the village at Monday’s meeting.
