Sand Lake council posts treasurer and zoning roles, updates bank signatories and denies Clark Hill engagement

At its March 27 special meeting the Village of Sand Lake council approved administrative and financial measures including public postings for an open treasurer and the zoning administrator positions, changes to bank account signatories and a decision to decline a Clark Hill engagement letter.

Helton moved and Johnson supported a motion to post the treasurer vacancy; the motion carried. The council also voted to post the zoning administrator position (motion by Stieg, supported by VanEtten). Members accepted a resignation from the zoning administrator and directed that a public posting be made. Council also approved removing two former signatories — Tyler Kaiser and Mollie Doerr — from the village's Independent Bank account and added Chris Stieg as a signatory.

On legal and consulting contracts, councilors discussed an engagement letter from Maner Costerisan (an accounting firm) and decided to table consideration of that letter. Members debated a separate engagement letter from Clark Hill, including questions about outstanding bonds and whether those obligations would become immediately due upon a potential municipal dissolution; the council voted to deny the Clark Hill engagement letter.

The council also handled several routine financial items: it tabled payment to Changemakers pending an itemized bill, and it denied a reimbursement request for a fire-training hotel stay because of date-related eligibility concerns.
