The Village of Sand Lake council voted Feb. 24 to partner with a communications vendor, ChangeMakers, and empowered Village President Doerr to sign the necessary documents.
Council member Camilleri moved to approve the partnership; Wright supported the motion. Stieg voted no, Christensen voted yes, and council members Doerr, Latham, Camilleri and Wright voted yes. Helton was absent, and the motion carried.
The vote took place during the meeting’s new-business segment after the council closed a brief public-comment period that focused on possible disincorporation and fire-service arrangements with Nelson Township. President Doerr said the meeting notice came from the village attorney and presented the communications item for consideration.
Council members did not expand on contract terms during the public meeting. Doerr was authorized to sign documents related to the partnership; the council did not record contract length or dollar amounts during the session.
The council also tabled the consent agenda earlier in the meeting and adopted the meeting agenda before taking up the communications item. The meeting adjourned at 9:32 a.m.
