Middlefield Board of Finance elects new chair, vice chair and extends auditors’ contract

The Middlefield Board of Finance elected Lee Matterazzo to serve as chair and Amanda Caccamo as vice chair during its May 14, 2026 meeting and approved a one-year extension of the town's audit contract at a higher fee.
Vice Chair Lee Matterazzo called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Jeanine Connelly nominated Matterazzo to replace Michael Skelps as chair; the nomination was seconded and the motion carried unanimously with no abstentions. Carrie Anderson was seated as a member; Amanda Caccamo was nominated and elected to the vice chair position in a separate unanimous vote.
Board members then reviewed the town's auditor relationship. Staff reported the board had completed its three-year commitment with the current auditors and recommended a one-year extension while the town prepares a formal procurement (OPN due June 4). The auditors' fee rose from $26,800 in the prior year to $30,400 for the upcoming year; the board approved the extension by motion, with the contract capped “not to exceed $30,400.” An auditor review is scheduled for January.
All motions related to officer elections and the auditor extension passed unanimously with no abstentions. The meeting adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
The board is expected to review auditing outcomes during its January audit review and to complete any procurement steps required by the June 4 OPN deadline.
