Select Board approves Knockabout Beer’s all-alcohol license, Chipotle non-alcoholic license and farmers-market sampling permit

The Mashby Select Board on May 18 approved three business-licensing items and related market permits.
Knockabout Beer Company: Owner representative Peter Mner told the board Knockabout seeks to convert from a farm-brewery pouring permit to a Section 12 annual all-alcohol restaurant license to permit sales of alcohol not produced on-site while continuing to brew on the property. Mner described staff training, secure back-stock storage and hours of operation (seasonally opening around 11 a.m. or noon, with a hard curfew of 1 a.m. in his application). Town staff reported prior runoff issues were addressed with conservation and planning. The Select Board opened and closed a public hearing and voted unanimously to approve the licensing application.
Chipotle: The board read notice for a common victualer (non-alcoholic) license for Chipotle Mexican Grill, 55 South Street, and heard that town departments had no outstanding issues. The motion to approve was unanimous; the applicant indicated a planned opening on June 30.
Farmers market sampling: Cheryl Stange of Spicy Water Distillery applied for a farmers-market liquor permit to offer limited distilled-spirit samples (state law limits a tasting to a quarter-ounce). Market manager Brooke McKay confirmed Knockabout and Spicy Water would be the only alcohol vendors, that ID-checking and a wristband/stamp system would be used, and that sampling would be tightly controlled. The board approved the farmers-market liquor permit unanimously.
All approvals included the usual caveat of departmental sign-offs where applicable (building, health, fire).
