Grants and public-safety funding: The council approved two grants from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to the fire department, recorded in the agenda as amounts of $5,920.47 and $2,368.94 to fund a SAFE program for fire education and awareness for students and seniors. Councilor Irish moved to approve the grants; the motion carried (vote recorded as '90').
Appointments: The council approved reappointments of Stephanie R. Faria and David J. Mortiselli to community appointments and reappointed Joseph Abzol, Anzela Hish and Kathleen Espadul to the Council on Aging. All reappointments were approved in the votes recorded in the meeting.
Easement acceptance: Assistant City Solicitor Jeremy McManis presented a proposed acceptance of right-of-way and sidewalk easement connected to an amended site plan condition for 57 Main Street. A councilor filed a disclosure that 57 Main Street will make a future gift to the councilor’s employer; the disclosure was noted on the record. The council approved the easement order by an 8–0 recorded vote.
Referrals and administrative items: A request from Matthew Donnelly on behalf of Target to increase wall signage from three to four for the Target at 423 Donald Lynch Boulevard was referred to the Urban Affairs Committee with a public hearing set for June 8. The council accepted minutes from the Commission on Disabilities and sent claims to the legal department; motions carried. The meeting adjourned at 8:13 p.m.
What’s next: The Urban Affairs Committee will schedule the Target signage public hearing for June 8; the personnel committee will review the conservation appointment on May 11.
