Finance Committee creates Lizotte Drive Stabilization Account, approves $200,000 in transfers

The Marlborough Finance Committee on June 15 approved the creation of a Lizotte Drive Stabilization Account and three related transfers totaling $200,000, the committee chair said.

The most immediate transfer — $50,000 from free cash into the fire station stabilization fund — was moved by Council Picillo, seconded and approved unanimously. "I'll start to move to approve the $50,000 transfer from free cash to the fire station stabilization fund," Council Picillo said as the committee took the first vote.

Committee members then approved a new Lizotte Drive Stabilization Account and voted to move $150,000 (two transfers of $50,000 and $100,000 from free cash) into that account. Councilor Ficillo moved the creation of the Lizotte Drive Stabilization Account and later moved the $150,000 transfer; both motions carried with all five members voting in favor.

Why it matters: the mayor's letter, included in the meeting materials and signed "J. Christian Dumas, Mayor," says the transfers and the new account respond to monies provided to the city as part of the conditions related to special permit number 25-19483E. The mayor requested the transfers and the ordinance language establishing the account for committee review.

What happens next: the committee handled the transfers and creation of the stabilization account during its June meeting; the items were recorded as carried and require the usual administrative follow-through by city staff. Separately on the committee agenda, members discussed a proposed salary ordinance for four non-union positions and later referred that matter to the city solicitor for legal form and future advertisement.
