Council adopts Results Way mixed‑use overlay ordinance in single evening

The Marlborough City Council voted unanimously June 8 to adopt a zoning amendment creating the Results Way mixed‑use overlay district, moving the proposal from committee to ordinance in a single evening.

The measure, advanced by the Urban Affairs and Housing Committee, amended chapter 650 to add the Results Way mixed‑use overlay and revised multifamily and unit‑count provisions. The committee report, delivered by Councilor Roby, said representatives from Greatland Realty Partners presented project materials and the committee adopted amendments to clarify unit counts and site‑plan conditions before forwarding the recommendation to the full council.

Councilor Roby moved the committee recommendation; after a successful suspension of the rules, the council approved the ordinance through the required readings, enrollment and final passage with a recorded vote of 10‑0. According to the committee report, the amendments included replacing a 300‑unit threshold with 400 in specific language and adjustments to standards for multifamily dwellings in subdistrict 2.

The council record shows the solicitor’s communication on the zoning draft was filed and that the council accepted the committee’s amended language before voting. Council members did not request further public comment during the city‑council vote.

The ordinance will be enrolled and take effect according to city procedures; the council indicated no objection to passage in one evening. The Urban Affairs committee will hold related meetings to address implementation details, including upcoming agenda items (Forest Street zoning) noted at the meeting.
