Members of Nahant's Open Space Committee presented a proposed interpretive panel for Marjoram Park at the April 1 Selectmen meeting.
Rebecca and Beth Paddock said the panel will mirror existing panels used elsewhere in town and include underwater imagery of healthy eelgrass, historical photographs of the wharf area and a painting contributed by a local artist. The panel will include a QR code linking to a presentation on eelgrass prepared by Phil Colarusso, identified in the record as an East Coast eelgrass expert; SWIM is funding the installation.
The presenters asked the board for input on final placement and noted they had tried to avoid areas that flood in winter; the Open Space Committee intends to finalize the exact location at a subsequent meeting. Town staff and members expressed support for the concept and suggested additional locations where interpretive panels might be appropriate.
