Sandown selectmen approve community event permissions, committee appointments and small donations

At the March 23 meeting the Sandown Board of Selectmen granted permission for community events, approved multiple committee appointments and accepted small donations.
Colleen Olsen, representing the Conservation Commission, asked for permission to hold the annual kids’ fishing derby at Sal’s Pond on a tentative May 2; the board granted the request and reviewed logistics including start times (7 a.m. set-up, 7:30 a.m. fishing through about 10) and age limits (catch-and-release, ages 2–15). Earlier in the public-comment period Erica Olsen, on behalf of the Sandown Lions, announced a pancake breakfast at the Edgave Building (Saturday, 8–10:30 a.m., donation-based) and previewed Oktoberfest on Oct. 17.
The board approved a slate of volunteer appointments: Scott Bickford to the Senior Transportation Committee (term to March 2029), Scott Bauder to the Conservation Commission (three-year term), members to the Joint Loss Management Committee and two library trustee alternates (Nell Keefe and Nicole Bauder). Motions were moved, seconded and approved by voice votes.
The board also accepted a $20 donation to the Senior Transportation Fund and authorized $490 for Oktoberfest funding. Members thanked donors and emphasized the need for volunteers on boards and for events.
Ending note: the board encouraged residents to check town Facebook pages for event registration and volunteer needs and noted liaison vacancies on several committees.
